What kind of job are you looking for?
One involving Illustration and/or graphic design where I have enough freedom to execute projects for my client or employeer in their best interest. Somewhere where I am respected for my work and skills and opinion, rather than taken advantage of as the "make it pretty" girl.

What do you do for fun?
I love to dance, so altho I am not a big drinker, I love going out with friends just to dance and have a good time. It's an excellent way to get out energy.
I love to do yoga, pilates, free weights, and walking. There are lots of hills here, 1,000 ft above sea level, so it's a much more affective workout when walking.
I enjoy cooking and baking; if i had endless supplies, I would cook and/or bake every meal we eat forever.
Drawing, painting, sculpting and photography are artistic activities i love to do in my spare time when inspired. I own an IMac G5, so I do alot of designing for myself on that. I am currently working on my freelance with it.
I love to go out with my husband. No matter what we do together, it's always an adventure!
Of course, i love to shop (when I have the money)!
I like tattooes and piercings, so when I have the funds, i like getting new ink and holes in my body. Nothing super crazy, relax!!
And of course, we hang out with friends, whether its gong to a bar, out to dinner, bowling, or hanging out playing ridiculous board games....

What are the three things that provide you satisfaction in your work?
1> Making someone stop and look at the piece b/c it is different from any other execution of the same type of project.
2> Acknowledgement when it's accepted well, and when it is not so that I may do better.
3> Proper information and materials if/when they need to be included in a design. I dont enjoy getting scolded for having incorrect information in my work that was given to me that way....

What was your best business trip experience?
When I was with Water To Go, I got to go to the annual convention in Las Vegas, NV. It was fun to travel to the west since I haven't gotten a chance to be out there much prior. We spent 5 days there, and altho there wasn't much down time, we really enjoyed ourselves when we DID get to relax.

What have your past employers loved about you?
My abilities. If anything, I have always been commended on my execution of projects. Also for my willingness to take on a challenge, working hard, and willingness to help out however I can.
I honestly don't think you need to know/use all the "proper design terms & language" when communicating with bosses, companies, and co-workers. Its not a game to see who knows more. Its most important to be able to find a solution to a artwork dilema....

What path did you take to your current career?
I knew when I was a 3rd grader I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. I took many art lessons as a pre-teenager. I was forced into a Catholic High School, which unfortunately had NO art program. I applied at art colleges, liberal arts colleges, and universities from the time I was a sophmore in high school through my senior year. I was first accepted at a liberal arts college called Rosemont University in PA. I attended for one semester, and then transfered to Monmouth University where I recieved my degree. Upon finishing school, I moved back home, and after getting engaged, I worked for a very small, local design/webdesign company. I later moved to south-central Jersey with my husband and worked for a corporate company located in west Jersey. My husband and I decided that we needed a change from Jersey, and once our lease was up, we moved to North Carolina in October 2006. I now work for yet another small company doing newspaper work as a designer and reporter and laying out two magazines.
I am not saying this is at all an ideal path for a graphic designer to take, but this is the way God's plan has gone for me thus far....

What was your first job?
My very first job was being a bus girl when I was 14 in a restaurant in the town where I grew up. It was a resort area, so I had MANY summer jobs of all kinds: bus girl, waitress, hostess, barista, sales, icecream server, bakery assistant, kitchen prep, etc.
